At Advent Christian Village, our senior living activities are designed to create engaging experiences for everyone in the community to enjoy. That’s exactly what the Live! at Dowling Park artist series accomplishes. This series has offered a variety of performances right in the heart of the Village — a unique opportunity to see amazing performances featuring music, dance, drama, photography, and even comedy from local, national and international artists — affordably.
Season passes and individual tickets may be purchased from the ACV cashier (386-658-5343). Individual tickets will also be available at each event. Individual ticket prices are listed with each performance’s information. Season pass information is located below the following event information.
Jessica It’s All Good is a clean comedian from the South with a loud personality, no shame, and not a whole lot of inhibitions. In 2014 she won her first comedy competition, and was a semi-finalist in Atlanta’s Top Comic Comedy Contest. In 2015 she took her comedy special Memoirs of a Supermodel Princess Clown to The Complex Theatre in Hollywood, CA. In 2020, with the support of donors, Jessica produced “WE’RE ALL CHOCOLATE.” Jessica is also an improv actress with the touring improv troupe, Fish Sticks Comedy, which came to ACV in 2021.
The Gateway City Big Band has been bringing the smooth and swinging sounds of the Big Band Era to north Florida since 1993. Under the direction of ACV friend Matt Johns, the band continues to echo the sounds of the great big bands of the 1930s and ’40s, as well as including more modern selections and contemporary arrangements for today’s listeners.
Since 2006, multi-award winning and multi-Dove Award nominated recording artist Tribute Quartet has become one of the country’s most dynamic, beloved and sought after male quartets in all of gospel music. Gary Casto, Josh Singletary, Gus Gaches and Ian Owens have proven to possess a combination of musical talent, warm and engaging personalities, and a focus that has kept them on the path to continued success since their inception. Fans, peers, and industry insiders agree Tribute brings a breath of fresh air to Gospel Music.
Valdosta State University’s Chamber Singers is an auditioned vocal ensemble of 24 to 32 singers who are chosen for their vocal and sight-reading abilities. This ensemble focuses on high quality performances of music from the Renaissance through the modern period and is VSU’s primary touring choral ensemble.
The Wilmington Celebration Choir is based out of Wilmington, NC. WCC is not a church choir, but a touring gospel choir comprised of 48 members. It is multi-generational and multi-denominational. The diversity of this group lends to its unique blend of harmony and its passion for spreading the gospel through song. The diversity of the choir also lends to the diversity of styles and arrangements: Southern gospel, praise and worship, traditional hymns, inspirational, Black gospel, and beautiful anthems. Each concert is unique, but is always a life-changing experience.
An Italian buffet will be served in Rumph Dining Room in Phillips Center following the concert for those who would like to dine with the choir.
Charles Stevens is a singer and multi-instrumentalist who currently resides in central Florida, but has spent a good portion of his professional career in NYC. While in New York, he appeared on the stage of Carnegie Hall in a featured quartet, as well as sharing the stage with The Muppets, Stephen Schwartz and various Broadway stars. A major highlight from his time in New York was working with the band Air Supply on their musical Sweet Dreams. Currently you can find him all around the Central Florida area performing at Disney, Universal and various 5-Star resorts.
Duo Arpeggione was formed in 2017 by doctors Catherine Lan, piano, and Claudio Jaffe, cello. Since then they have delighted audiences with their passion and excellence, and each recital includes insightful commentary. Both artists bring extensive lifelong performance experience at an international level. Both artists have also won prizes at various competitions.
In addition to their performance experience, Lan and Jaffe hold teaching positions. Dr. Jaffe teaches at Palm Beach Atlantic University, in addition to being conductor of the Florida Youth Orchestra. He is principal cellist of the Palm Beach Symphony and Florida Grand Opera, as well as cellist with the Delray String Quartet. Dr. Lan teaches at Broward College, in addition to being a founding member of Duo Beaux Arts, Duo Formosa and others.
Kevin Sharpe (or K#) is regarded as one of the country’s most accomplished concert pianists. He has been praised by critics and has enchanted audiences with his “precise touch” and “strong individual voice”. In 2006, Sharpe was awarded the distinction of a Fulbright Scholarship Grant to travel to Dublin, Ireland, where he is currently teaching and performing at the Dublin Institute of Technology. Sharpe has received many awards including becoming a Fulbright Scholar, being chosen by the state of Florida to receive a State Touring Grant, and he was the top prize winner in the Johann Sebastian Bach International Piano Competition.
Dr. Sharpe will perform in ACV’s dining room, where dessert and coffee will be served to those who would enjoy delighting all five senses.
The Gainesville Pops is a performing wind ensemble comprised of professional musicians, music educators, and serious hobbyists, all from the Gainesville, Florida, area. This Village-favorite group was conceived to provide an enhanced opportunity for musicians to perform and entertain at a high musical level. The concert program will include a number of patriotic movie themes, marches, and classic favorites — a salute to America’s veterans.
